Dear PMIG friends,

It is time to make plans to attend this year's Person Memory Interest Group (PMIG) meeting, prior to the SESP convention in New Mexico. We are thrilled this year to secure the use of Isleta Resort & Casino, owned and operated by the Pueblo of Isleta. The facility is located just 11 miles south of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and it is 80 miles (a 75 minute drive) to the SESP convention at the Eldorado in Santa Fe. The steps to register are provided below. First, a reminder of pertinent conference information and summary of details about our 2024 event.

Event Format. As is our tradition, the formal program sessions will be held all day on Wednesday (October 23) and on Thursday morning (October 24). All are expected to be in attendance for dinner on Tuesday October 22.
We encourage people to arrive on Monday afternoon/evening (October 21) if possible, to enjoy a full day Tuesday of exploring the outdoors, sightseeing, talking with long-time friends, making new friends, and general informal activity. This aspect of our schedule has become a valued hallmark of PMIG meetings and people find that it's much more than a day of relaxation; it's also a time of merging science with nature, of informal sharing of ideas, and of learning about others' research in one-to-one conversations, etc. Another hallmark of our meeting is that we share in all events together – meals, talks, and evening social events. This produces three costs (food, lodging, facilities) for the event. Please note that we negotiate the meeting’s financial components with an eye toward keeping total costs roughly equal from year to year. Attendees cannot then choose to stay in separate lodging, or to not pay for some of the meals. It is a “pay one price” event, collected in installments as described below.
Formal Program. Our program will feature invited talks and an informal paper session. Both types of presentations will be included on the conference program. All attendees are invited to present an informal paper. Attendees who have received their doctorate degree prior to Oct 2024 may be considered for a talk. You may submit a talk title and abstract (for consideration) and/or an informal paper title for the program when you complete the registration form.
The program will also feature the Ostrom award session recognizing career contributions to social cognition. This year, we are thrilled to celebrate 2022 award winner, Peter Gollwitzer. In addition, we are happy to announce that the recipients of the 2024 Thomas Ostrom Award are Jack Dovidio and Hazel Markus. Although they are unable to join us this year, we hope to celebrate their achievements at a future meeting.
Transportation to and from Person Memory. The Albuquerque airport (ABQ) is the closest airport to the Isleta Resort. Isleta provides a complimentary shuttle service to and from ABQ with 24 hour advanced notice.
About three weeks before our meeting, we will share a google sheet for attendees to coordinate rides from nearby transportation hubs (e.g., Albuquerque and Santa Fe airports). We encourage attendees to rent a car (if they can afford to do so), so that they may provide rides to others from PMIG to SESP. We will coordinate rides to SESP and transportation hubs during the meeting.
Accommodations. Each attendee is responsible for making their own lodging arrangement with Isleta by September 6, 2024. Please call hotel reservations at (877) 747-5382 or (505) 724-3800 and mention the group code of PMI1024 to receive our group rate. All rooms in the block are standard hotel-style rooms with a private bathroom. Rooms have either one king bed or two queen beds. ADA-accessible rooms are also available for reservation. At check-out, attendees will be able to split the costs of shared accommodations and a receipt of charges from the site.
The room rate is $159/night (plus tax) for single or double occupancy ($10/night will be added for each guest over double occupancy with a maximum of four guests per room). The resort fee has been waived for our group.
Cancellations must be made 72 hours prior to the arrival date to avoid a no-show charge.
Food and Beverages. Consistent with recent years, we will be collecting meal costs after you have registered and paid the registration fee, with a deadline of October 1, 2024. A receipt will be sent to you upon payment.
Meals covered for Monday arrivals are: dinner on Monday, three meals on Tuesday and on Wednesday, and breakfast and lunch on Thursday. Also coffee and refreshments during the program, and evening social hours that include beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and light snacks. Food costs for Monday arrivals will be approximately $455.
Meals covered for Tuesday arrivals are: dinner on Tuesday, three meals on Wednesday, and breakfast and lunch on Thursday. Also coffee and refreshments during the program, and evening social hours that include beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and light snacks. Food costs for Tuesday arrivals will be approximately $315.
Please note that meal costs are mandatory for attendees, with no exceptions. If you need to leave early for some reason, you are still responsible for the food costs for the entire duration of the conference. This is because the cost of group meals must be shared by all attendees in order to make the conference financially viable.
Registration Fee. The registration fee this year remains at $95. This fee covers the costs associated with putting on the conference – room rental fees, A/V fees, hotel staff fees. After completing your registration form, please submit this payment no later than September 6, 2024 directly to PMIG via Zelle (Recipient: personmemoryconference@gmail.com) or by check made payable to Person Memory Interest Group and mail to:
Gordon Moskowitz
111 South 15th Street, Apt. P315
Philadelphia, PA, 19102
The registration fee receipt will be sent within 5 business days after we receive the fee. This also serves as a confirmation that you have successfully registered for Person Memory 2024.

Lodging payments and receipts will be done directly with the hotel.
Cancellation Policy. Cancellations before September 30, 2024 will be issued a full reimbursement of registration fees. For cancellations after September 30, we make every effort to provide partial or full reimbursement of registration and meal fees. These can only be made after the event occurs.
