Dear PMIG friends,

It is a bit earlier than usual, but please start to think about your planning to attend this year's Person Memory Interest Group (PMIG) meeting, prior to the SESP convention in Lisbon. This letter provides some basic information for you to begin planning and booking lodging. We are thrilled this year to secure the use of Hotel Praia Mar (Carcavelos Beach Hotel). The hotel has a wonderful location that is just a 7-minute walk from the train station, which provides easy access to both Lisbon and Cascais. The hotel is adjacent to the sea, so you can enjoy the beach either at the end of the day or in the morning.

The costs (food, lodging, facilities, registration fee) for the event will be handled differently than in recent years. This year, you will need to make the lodging arrangements yourself directly to the hotel. While we prefer to standardize everything, it simply is not possible with any of the venues we explored in Portugal. Please read the details below carefully.

Event Format. As is our tradition, the formal program sessions will be held all day on Wednesday (October 15) and on Thursday morning (October 16). All are expected to be in attendance for dinner on Tuesday October 14.

We encourage people to arrive on Monday afternoon/evening (October 13) if possible, to enjoy a full day Tuesday of exploring the outdoors, sightseeing, talking with long-time friends, making new friends, and general informal activity. This aspect of our schedule has become a valued hallmark of PMIG meetings and people find that it's much more than a day of relaxation; it's also a time of merging science with nature, of informal sharing of ideas, and of learning about others' research in one-to-one conversations, etc. Another hallmark of our meeting is that we share in all events together – meals, talks, and evening social events.

Formal Program. Our program will feature invited talks and an informal paper session. Both types of presentations will be included on the conference program. All attendees are invited to present an informal paper. Attendees who have received their doctorate degree prior to Oct 2025 may be considered for a talk. You may submit a talk title and abstract (for consideration) and/or an informal paper title for the program when you complete the registration form.

The program will also feature the Ostrom award sessions recognizing career contributions to social cognition. This year, we are fortunate to be recognizing the 2025 winner, Monica Biernat, as well as 2020 winners, Anne Maass and Gün Semin, who were unable to attend during the pandemic. This will result in more talks by senior colleagues than is typical.

Accommodations and Meals. Your room, meals, and your drinks will be charged to you directly. Your room and meals will be charged directly to you by the hotel, with your costs being due at check-out. Evening social beverages will be handled on the premises, at your own expense (pay as you go).

The hotel rates (excluding tax) by room style are below:

Single standard:                      €  90.-

Single with sea view:              € 100.-

Double standard:                    € 100.-

Double with sea view:            € 110.-

Please book your hotel room by emailing the Hotel Manager Antonio Romeiro (Antonio.romeiro[at]almeidahotels.pt). In your email, please specify your check in date, check out date, and preferred room style. Please also mention your affiliation with our group (“Person Memory Interest Group”) to secure the above rate.

The hotel will charge you for the meals provided during your stay. Those rates will be approximately €60 per day, including lunch and dinner (breakfast is already included in the nightly room rate).

Registration Fee. PMIG will request a registration fee from you by August 30, 2025 to cover the cost of the conference meeting room and A/V. The fee will not exceed US$95, which has been the rate for the past several years.
