June 25, 2026

Dear PMIG friends,

Registration for this year's Person Memory Interest Group meeting (prior to the SESP convention in Montreal) is now open! The deadline to register and pay your registration fee is August 1, 2026.

We are thrilled this year to secure the use of Hotel Auberge Lac Taureau - https://www.lactaureau.com/en. The conference will take place from Monday September 28 through Thursday October 1. Hotel Auberge Lac Taureau is a throwback to the days of more secluded and rustic settings for Person Memory.

The costs (food, lodging, facilities, registration fee) have not increased and have held steady each of the last 5 years. Approximate pricing is provided below and follows the typical procedure of asking you to pay the hotel directly for your hotel stay, but to pay PMIG a registration fee at the time of registration and a meal fee in the weeks before the event.

Event Format. As is our tradition, the formal program sessions will be held all day on Wednesday (September 30) and on Thursday morning (October 1). All are expected to be in attendance by dinner on Tuesday September 29.  We encourage people to arrive on Monday afternoon/evening (September 28) if possible, to enjoy a full day Tuesday of exploring the outdoors, sightseeing, talking with long-time friends, making new friends, and general informal activity. This aspect of our schedule has become a valued hallmark of PMIG meetings.

Accommodations. The hotel prefers to make reservations by contacting you directly (rather than you contacting them), and so we will give them your email address in August. If you indicated your interest to us informally in June, then you will receive an email from the hotel sooner. Your room will be charged directly to you by the hotel, with your costs being due at the time of the reservation. If you make a reservation and later need to cancel it, we ask that you first contact Gordon and Jackie to check if someone else in the group could take over your reservation.

The hotel rate for a single or a double occupancy room:                   $CAD 174

Accommodation is also subject to the lodging tax of 3.5% per room, per night plus GST and PST. Rates listed in the contract are subject to GST (5%) and QST (9.975%). The exchange rate in March 2026 had the total nightly cost at about $225CAD (roughly US$170).

You may contact Gordon and Jackie if you are interested in being paired with someone for a double room. We work informally to match roommates when possible.

Meals. Meals covered for Monday arrivals are: dinner on Monday, 3 meals on Tuesday and on Wednesday, and breakfast and lunch on Thursday. Also, coffee and refreshments during the program, and evening social hours that include beverages (alcoholic non-alcoholic) and snacks. Food costs for Monday arrivals are approximately $470US (exact number coming in August).

Meals covered for Tuesday arrivals are: dinner on Tuesday, 3 meals on Wednesday, and breakfast and lunch on Thursday. Also, coffee and refreshments during the program, and evening social hours that include beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and light snacks. Food costs for Tuesday arrivals are approximately $310US (exact number coming in August).

Meal costs will be due by September 4, 2026. Please note that meal costs are mandatory for attendees, with no exceptions. If you need to leave early for some reason, you are still responsible for the food costs for the entire duration of the conference. This is because the cost of group meals must be shared by all attendees in order to make the conference financially viable.

Registration Fee. The registration fee this year remains at $95US. This fee covers the costs associated with putting on the conference – room rental fees, A/V fees, hotel staff fees. This will be collected at the time you register for the conference (later this Spring). The fee is due by August 1 and is fully refundable if you cancel before September 1.

Formal Program. Our program will feature invited talks and an informal paper session. Both types of presentations will be included on the conference program. All attendees are invited to present an informal paper. Attendees who have received their doctorate degree prior to September 2026 may be considered for a talk. You may submit a talk title and abstract (for consideration) and/or an informal paper title for the program when you complete the registration form.

The program will also feature the Ostrom award session recognizing career contributions to social cognition. This year, we are fortunate to be recognizing the 2026 Ostrom Award winner, Michael Zarate.

Transportation to and from Person Memory. The Montreal airport is the closest airport to the resort.  It is about a 2.5 hour drive north. About three weeks before our meeting, we will share a google sheet for attendees to coordinate rides from nearby transportation hubs. We encourage attendees to rent a car (if they can afford to do so), so that they may provide rides to others from PMIG to SESP. We will coordinate rides to SESP and transportation hubs during the meeting.
